The Divine Equine III - Art for the Horse Lover
Location: Great Art & Frame
Event Dates: 7/24/2010 -
8/20/2010
Reception: 7/23/2010 • 6:00-8:30 p.m.
The beauty and power of the horse is celebrated by this year's collection of art for the horse lover. The show is a fundraiser for Quantum Leap Farm's program, "Horses Healing our Veterans"(www.quantumleapfarm.org). Artists have been invited from across the country as well as many of our local talent who paint, photograph, and sculpt their equine images. Last year we raised over $6,000 for our charity from this event and this year our goal is $8,000. We will repeat the mini-art sale this year where original pieces by each artist are sold for the same incredibly low price...$75! For that price each customer gets an original piece which will be framed in a custom frame to complement the art and it will be fitted up and ready to take home by the end of the evening. If last year is any guide, this should be very popular with art lovers. For lovers of good food, Cody's Original Roadhouse is back by demand from the fabulous dinner they provided last year. Many local businesses have donated goods and services for our Raffle. And, of course, valet parking if offered at the back of the gallery. (You can see photos from last year by viewing the archived event page.) Plan on attending! Call for more info: 813-792-8960.

The 2nd Annual
"Divine Equine II - Art for the Horse Lover"
This year's Opening Night exceeded our expectations! A crowd of over 150 people gathered in the sultry summer heat at the gallery on Friday, July 24, to kick off our second annual fund raiser for Quantum Leap Farm's "Horses Healing Veterans" program. The farm serves active duty soldiers and veterans that are here in Florida after deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as many adults and children who need therapy and healing.
Our stalwart volunteers worked diligently to make it the best event ever! The front of Westpark Village had a wagon, bales of hay, saddles, lawn scupture, and the festive color of potted plants.
Karen & Phil Duffey sets up the donated flowers Lisa Yanchar sets up the sponsor displays.
Edie Dopking, Founder of Quantum Leap Farm & volunteer Dave Bullard arrange the tables for the guests and organize the brochures as part of the center pieces.
Lawn Sculpture welded out of railroad spikes by Karyn's Art.com.
Just minutes before the show Joose was still busily making up the art labels for the exhibit.
To avoid the usual parking hassles, we had Valet parking!
As the night got under way, the volunteers registered the guests
and sold raffle tickets for the hundreds of dollars worth of prizes that had been donated.
Also we set up a silent auction for things from a Porsche for a weekend to a Horse Portrait.
On the front lawn a small tractor got its share of admirers.
The food and wine was donated by Cody's Original Roadhouse and most folks went back for more...and more! Rollin Yanchar of Cody's Original Roadhouse kept yummy sliders coming.
Bernardo Rossello volunteered to entertain and pour the wine for visitors.
Desserts were provided Cupcake-Cupcakes.
Each artist made the art sales better than ever! They each did a small original for the "Mini-Art" sale. This turned out to be the biggest draw (no pun intended) of the show. For only $75 each customer selected a small original along with their choice of a custom frame. The gallery quickly fit up the pieces and so they were ready by the end of the evening.
Over all the gallery has sold 20 of these little beauties so far!
There are only 7 originals remaining, and they're still being snapped up as the exhibit continues to run through August 21st.
The gallery was crowded most of the night with people enjoying the art and making purchases.
With the help of Karen Duffey and Lisa Yanchar who had worked on getting donations for months, by the end of the opening night, the donations, raffle tickets, and art sales totaled close to $6,000 for the Quantum Leap program!
Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out with the event.
